About the Play
“The Vagina Monologues (1996) is an iconic feminist play by V (fka Eve Ensler), based on around 200 interviews with women on a range of vaginal topics. In 2018, The New York Times stated, “No recent hour of theater has had a greater impact worldwide” in an article “The Great Work Continues: The 25 Best American Plays Since ‘Angels in America‘”. While there have been many iterations of this play, Gerber Hart Play Club will be reading the version from 2008.”
Content Warning
“The Vagina Monologues” contains frank and occasionally detailed discussions of sexuality, sexual violence, and gender-based trauma. We will discuss the play and its themes after we are done reading: all community members are welcome to leave or abstain from the conversation at their own discretion”
