Content Note:
Angels in America is about queerness, the AIDS epidemic, and the rise of the conservative right in America. This play was written in the late 1980s about the late 1980s and the ways that we depict language have changed. While it’s ultimately a story about choosing love and choosing life, it’s also taking a close look at some despicable figures in contemporary American history. Characters weaponize homophobic, anti-Semitic, and racist slurs in ways that we would see as harmful or potentially triggering today. There will also be moments of sexual content, drug and alcohol use, and depictions of AIDS, mental illness, and death.
