Tuesday, June 3 – A Night at the Queer Archives

Join Read & Run Chicago and Gerber/Hart for an evening exploring the largest LGBTQ archives in the Midwest! 6 PM – 8 PM at Gerber/Hart.

Saturday, June 7 – Booksale + Rummage Sale

Kick off the start of Pride Month and stock your shelves at the Gerber/Hart Book (and Rummage) sale!

Saturday June 7th from 10 AM – 3:30 PM join us for an incredible selection of books, media, periodicals, and more! We’ll also have a rare books and erotica sale for our 18+ customers. Plus, we’ll also be cleaning out our closets and offering great deals on electronics, glassware, kitschy items, and more.

We’re also excited to announce that Rise of @riotous_roots will be tabling – they’ll have incredible earrings, stickers, and grounding coupons available for sale on June 7th so make sure to check out their table!

Tuesday, June 10 – What is Queer Food at Women & Children First Books

Join us for a reading, conversation, and book-signing in honor of the release of What Is Queer Food?: How We Served a Revolution by John Birdsall on Tuesday, June 10th, from 7 – 8:30 PM at Women & Children First Books (5233 North Clark Street Chicago, IL 60640). For this event, John will be in conversation with Martin Sorge, winner of the The Great American Baking Show! Gerber/Hart will be popping up at Women & Children First with a table full of food-related archival materials at the event.

Join us for a Queer Zines Discussion + Workshop led by Larry Wolf at Gerber/Hart with Zine Club Chicago!

Join us in person or on Zoom on Tuesday, June 17th, from 7-9 PM CST to explore the queer zines in Gerber/Hart’s collections, discuss favorite titles in your personal collection, and make a zine!

Join us for an author talk with Robert W. Fieseler on Wednesday, June 18th, at 7 PM at Gerber/Hart. Robert will be joined in conversation with local historian and author Owen Keehnen.

Thursday, June 19 – Ponyboi Screening at Music Box Theatre

Join us for a screening of Ponyboi (2024) starring River Gallo at the Music Box Theatre (3733 N Southport Ave) on Thursday, June 19th, at 7 PM!

Gerber/Hart will be tabling in the lobby with a pop-up of queer archival materials from our collections before and after the screenings.

Friday, June 20 – Queer Elder History Panel at Dorothy

Join us for our third annual Queer Elder History Panel at Dorothy! This Pride season Gerber/Hart and the LGBTQ+ Intergenerational Dialogue Project are partnering to bring the younger and older generations together in dialogue about queerness over time.

Join us for a panel discussion on Friday, June 20th at 7 PM – and stay for karaoke at 9!

Saturday, June 21 – Play Club

Join Gerber/Hart’s Play Reading Club on Saturday June 21st at 11 AM as they read along to Time is on our Side (2021) by R. Eric Thomas. We’ll divvy up the roles, read aloud, and have a short discussion after.

A few copies of the script will be available for use but please bring a phone, laptop, or other device to read the online pdf if you can!

Tuesday, June 24 – Lesbian Pulp Fiction Run & Lecture at Vuori

Celebrate Pride Month this June with a celebration of legendary pulp fiction author Valerie Taylor on this 4-mile running tour in the Gold Coast/River North/Loop area starting and ending at Vuori (1003 N Rush Street) organized by our friends at Read & Run Chicago! Join us on Tuesday, June 24th, at 6 PM.

Wednesday, June 25 – Chicago Fire Pride Night at Soldier Field

Gerber/Hart has been invited to attend Chicago Fire’s Pride Night on Wednesday 6/25 at 7:30 PM at Soldier Field!

We’ll have a group of staff, volunteers, and board members attending to cheer on the Fire, and Gerber/Hart will be tabling with a pop-up of items from our library and archives at the event.
